We are half way!!!!

We did it.  Over the summer that we had hoped we would finish the qulit top in, we at least got half way.  Life got in the way a little but we made it half way.

~~Mom, Ben and Chris ~~

Block #77 - Seasons

Ben did this block during the race when he couldn't sleep.

This was our 55th block!

Block #30 End of Day

Love love love this one.  I love how it came out.  Love the colors.

Our 54th block

Block #41 - Friendship Star

Ok I love how all the basket weave came out in the same direction.  The one little piece is a tiny bit crooked, but it's ok to me.  Finsihed it on the 27th of Aug

Block #53

Block # 31 - Evening Star

Ok so the race was kinda slow in the middle.  I got sewing and I am so happy with how it came out.  Finished on the 27th of Aug.

Block #33 - Farmer's Puzzle

Well I worked my butt off trying to get all my points to line up.  They did.  But than my strip was so far off.  Oh well.  Me and Jack (my seam ripper) have been friends the last few days.  Here it is after three attempts to fix it.  I think I did.

~~ Mom ~~
This is our 51st block of the 111 we need to do.

~~ Mom~~

This is our 50th block of the 111 we need to do.

Block # 79 - Silver Lane

Ok this block looked alot better in piece than it does togeher  Oh well it is done and that's all there is to it.  Did this one on the 23 of Aug.

Our 49th block  of the 111 we need to do.

Block #75 - Rosebud

I really liked the colors on this block.  Pink is not bothering me as much as it used too.
After the two messed up blocks yesterday, I'm very happy with how simple and easy this block was to put together.
~~ Mom ~~
This is our 46th block of the 111 we have to do.

Block #102 - Whrilpool

I did this block today.  Mom squared it up for me and did it wrong.  So it came out way too small.  Mom had me add a border around it to make it the right size.  I still like it.
~~ Chris~~

This is the block when I was done.  Just a few inches too small.

Block #82 Sipder Legs

Ok so I sewed today and I did this block.  Yes I know there are four pieces that are the wrong color.  Didn't know that till it was done and I was not going to re do it.

Our 44th block done of the 111 needed.

Block #100 - Weathervane

Chris did this one.  Picked the colors and sewed all but one row of it.  The machine he was using was acting up so I did the last seam.

Block #98 Waterwheel

Really don't like this one.  Not a drop.  Not sure if it's my fabric choice or the fact it's all pink.  But it's done and I'm done with it.

Block #97 - Waste Not

Yeah I sewed today.  My goal was to get ten blocks done this week.  And this is my first one towards that goal.

Block #16 Calico Puzzle

Mom taught me how to do half square triangles with the line trick. Alot easier than sewing a bunch of little pieces.
~~ Chris ~~
Our 40th block finsihed.  only 71 to go!  36% of the way done!!

Block #2 Autumn Tints

Yes, I got back to the sewing machine.  I wanted to sew really bad today so I just grabebd two blocks from the box and sewed them.  Both are simple blocks (which explains why they are still in the box) but I wanted to get something done.  But no sooner than I got the parts cut out, Ben wanted to sew.  So I started this and he finshed it.
~~ Mom & Ben ~~
Should point out this is our 39th block of the 111 that is needed.

Block #85 - Square Dance

Ok so I picked this block to do cause it looked cool.  Only the machine didn't like me today.  I did learn to thread it so I don't have to keep asking mom to do it.  But the darn machine kept messing up on me.  And in the end, it was alot harder than it looked for me.

Block #20 - Churn Dash

Ok it seems like for ever since I sewed last.  I know it's not been that long since I know I sewed during "plant shutdown".  But still, it feels like a long time.  But I broke my last needle early last week and had to wait to get a new one.  But yeah!  I got new ones.

So here is todays block

1/3 of the way done!!

Wanted to make this a special post all of its own.  We are now offically done with 33.33% of the 111 blocks needed to assemble a queen sized quilt (which is our goal).  That's 37 blocks.  How cool is that for the boys and myself?    We are behind schedule on getting it done.  But life seems to keep getting in the way.  But we are having alot of fun.

This week I'm gonna really work with the boys on getting them behind the machine.

Block #36 - Flower Garden Path

Ok I love the colors of this block.  But I didn't sew it right or I cut it wrong, not sure which because the points don't come together like they are supposed too.  But I'm ok with how it looks.  I actually like how it turned out.  This is the last (12th) block from the 7th.

~~ Mom ~~

Block #80 - Single Wedding Star

Not sure I like this one or not.  But it's done and I'm happy with that.  This is actually the first block I did on the 7th.  But it's the 11th one uploaded here.
~~ Mom ~~

Block #109 - Windows

It was getting late when I did this one and it took me 4 tries to get the center square right because I was doing it without using the tempaltes (I didn't have it with me).  This was block #10 done on the 7th.
~~ Mom ~~

Block #35 - Flower Basket

I've been putting this block off for the entire project.  This one and one other has appliqued handles on it and I hate applique.  Oh well, bit the bullet and did it.  Block #9 from the 7th
~~ Mom ~~

Block #72 - Rail Road

Didn't see the stars in the white till after I cut out all the pieces.  Too late to change.  But I really do like it.  This was the 8th block done on the 7th.
~~ Mom ~~

Block #42 - Fruit Basket

Well aftering reading the name, maybe I should have made this one in different colors.  This block looks more like a bread basket. Oh well, I like how it came out.  This was the 7th block done on the 7th.
~~ Mom ~~

Block #70 - Prairie Queen

This block game me a headache just putting it together.  Love the colors but the assembly had to be taken out and red done a few times before it was right.  Block #6 done on the 7th.
~~ Mom ~~

Block #4 - Basket Weave

Love love love the colors in this quilt.  Had planned on saving it for the kids to do because of how easy it was but after a few of the more complicated blocks I did, I needed something simple.  5th block done on the 7th.
~~ Mom ~~

Block # 15 - Buzzards Roost

Wasn't till this block was done that I realized the dark farbic changed from light to dark on the scrap I cut the pieces from.  Was kinda irked I didn't see that before it was sewn.  But I'm not redoing it.  This was my 4th block done on the 7th.
~~ Mom ~~

Block #76 - Sawtooth.

This block got changed up a little from the original pattern.  The flower print on the bottom was suposed to be the same as the green on top but I really wanted to use these three colors together.  This was the 3rd block I got done on the 7th.
~~ Mom ~~

Block #89 - Steps to the Altar

When I seen the title of this block I knew I had to do it in my wedding colors of black, white and red. I'm glad I did cause I love how this block came out. This is the second block I got done on the 7th.
~~ Mom ~~

Block #78 - Shooting Star

Was able to finish 12 blocks on the 7th while sewing with my mom.  Here is the first one of those 12. You really can't tell from the picture, but the cream fabric has little blue berries on it that matchthe blue farbic.
~~Mom ~~

Block #69 - Pratical Orchard

Ok I really really disliked this one in the book and don't like it done.  But it is done and I'm leaving it be.  It was the 4th block I got done on the 6th.
~~ Mom ~~

Block #73 - Rainbow Flowers

I love this block.  I had originaly planned to leave it for one of the boys to do cause it was easy.  But I wanted to do it so bad.  Got it done on the 6th.
~~Mom~~

Block #74 - Ribbons

This block was a little hard on me cause I kept sewing them together wrong.  Got it done on the 6th of July.
~~~Mom~~~
Block #17 Cats and Mice
Did this block while sewing with my mom.  I have wanted an orange and black block from the start and this was my attempt at it.
Please remember that we are not doing these blocks in order.  We are doing them how ever we please.
21st block done out of the 111 needed.
Block #47 - Homemaker
Please remember we are not doing these blocks in order.  We are doing them how ever we want.
First time I ever did a set in seam.  Or at least I think this qualifies as a set in seam.  Wasn't as hard as I thought it was.  This is the second one I cut out this morning and stitched during the race.
20th block done out of the 111 needed.
Block #6 - Big Dipper
Please remember we are not doing these blocks in order.  but are doing them how ever we want.
Well I figured since Chris got a block done today I had better work on one too.  I started before PT, and got it done at 10:40pm.  Talk about cutting it close.  Here it is.
Block #54 - Kitchen Woodbox
please remember that we are not doing these blocks in order.  But are doing them how ever we want.
This block was alot of fun for me to do.  It is the best block I've done so far.  It was really easy for me to do.  Only took me about a hour to do it from start to finish.  I want to thank every one who sent us farbic.  Have a great day and keep quilting!
Block #26 - Cut Glass Dish
Please remember we are not doing these blocks in order.  We are doing them how ever we want.
Well after a few days off we, meaning I, got back in the mood to sew.  I did this block today and now hate half square triangles.  No matter how you do them.  I had to make 24 one inch ones for this block!!!  Cut it out on the 22 and got it done on June 23.
Block #18 - Century of Progress
Please remember that we are not doing these blocks in order.  We are doing them how ever we want to do them.
Back to a block I did.  Really had fun with this one.  Alot different shapes in the blocks.  This block was done on the 5th of June.
Block #68 - Postage Stamp
Please remember that we are not doing these blocks in order.  We are doing them how ever we want to do them.
